Why I Started PrettySub Cosmetics + Glosses Inspiration

Good morning/ afternoon/ evening to all my Kittens !!

It has been a little minute since our last post. I decided for this post, I am going to discuss the story behind PrettySub + getting into our products and the future of PrettySub.

I was trying to insert a High Rise Invasion gif but couldn't find one on the site I use. That's been my favorite anime lately, I recently acquired Netflix like most adults in America have and it is between that anime and the Korean drama Vincenzo I have been binging.

Okay, so let's get into it.

If you have been a long-term follower of mine, you would know my business ran under a different name. That was running for several months back when I decided to start my business in pandemic 2020. Around that time, I left one job and was searching for another, COVID messed that all up, and I was looking for jobs but obviously that wasn't working out...because of COVID. I think you all remember us being stuck home, unable to leave our homes unless absolutely necessary. the pandemic left us at home, alone or without our families and we had A LOTTTT of time to sit and think.

I remember being home, feeling bored, and always being in my thoughts. I went way back in my memories in high school, of me always saying I will start my own makeup company. I was the girl going to class in flashy outfits at times wearing bright red lipstick, with my big crazy hair, and one of her fave hobbies was going to the Korean shops or Sephora to buy makeup or smell perfumes or try skincare. I spent so much money now that I think about it.

But that didn't matter long as I felt good and happy LOL.

But thinking about that more, I realized that dream never left. I forgot it but more so, always pushed it aside. Whenever I brought up that idea, people always said " starting a business is so much money", " You're too young" " There are too many makeup companies now how will you make money ?" words like that, that might of killed the motivation I have to start it up. I buried it down and just thought of my life as settling for a 9-5 government shop or something like that instead. Now, there is nothing wrong with such a job, I work one now, but my point is in my experience I buried that desire under everybody else's discouraging words.

So I sat there, contemplated for a bit, and said " fuck it ". By this time since everybody seemed to be on social media more, I started to see a lot of home-based and grown businesses especially other women started. People were here creating body butter, lipglosses, lipsticks, body soaps, lotions, hair care, etc, all in the comfort of their homes !! I couldn't believe it. I used to believe starting a business was this super complicated corporate thing ( I mean it can be ) but starting it didn't seem as complicated as other people were trying to drill into me.

So I did some google searching, bought what I needed, and started. For someone that started a business for her first-ever time, looking back, I don't think I did too bad, but I admit I jumped the gun on some things, didn't realize the expenses to take into account, and that it is not always easy. Eventually, I needed a break from it all and wanted to rebrand myself. I wanted something more original and " me"

I was eating dinner one time and the idea of PrettySub suddenly came to me. I started to think about the concept, the colors, theme, etc. I have bad memory at times so I made sure to WRITE everything down ( it is better to write shit down instead of not, being lazy cost me a ton of ideas I forgot) I started to sketch the logo and hired an artist. I redid my Instagram, did more research, and restarted this year in June 2021. Launch Day was my birthday, as a cute treat to myself.

If you have seen our Instagram page ( @prettysub_cosmetics) you would see the wild memes I share along with our product photos. Everybody loves memes so why not? Our brand is on the sexual side of things because that is how I and many other people I'm sure can relate, express ourselves. It has definitely gotten me rude, accusatory, mean - but interesting comments. It used to bother me because I find it interesting people can spew negativity or hatred to someone on the internet they don't have any idea about. But, that is how many people like me express ourselves, and as long as it's not hurting anyone, then it doesn't matter. If it's not your cup of tea, or you're a minor, get the fuck out.

My mission of PrettySub Cosmetics is a place where my Kittens ( followers, supporters, spectators however you identify) can feel free to express themselves and not be afraid of judgment. I know some of you may be sex workers / have an OF and may face criticism all the time or you're just simply someone who is curious or expresses yourself in such ways. I write these blog posts to cover different topics ( not just sexual) so if you ever need advice or something to be entertained by, you're more than welcome here !!

I started PrettySub with my high pigmented long-lasting and hydrating lip glosses. I did a ton of research for my formula and tried my samples and LOVEDDDD it. And I knew people would love it. I have gotten lots of compliments about my branding and products and I want to continue providing that satisfaction to you guys.

My first gloss is " SAFEWORD" If you don't know what a " safe word" is I advise you to click out of here if you're not an adult, and if you are one, continue reading and I will provide the textbook definition ( off Google) :

Safeword ( n.) :

  1. a word serving as a prearranged and unambiguous signal to end an activity, such as between a dominant and submissive sexual couple.

In simple terms, it's a word you use to stop any sexual activity you and your partner(s) are doing. So let's say it's the word " apple". The very second you say " apple" your partner(s) are supposed to stop whatever is going on and attend to you. Let's say you're starting to be in pain or you just don't want to do anything anymore, saying " apple" is supposed to stop everything. You would do the same if you're the one doing anything to your partner(s). It's about trust and safety for everyone involved.

I decided to make " SAFEWORD " our clear gloss because I thought it was fitting. Being that a safeword is supposed to be this clear understanding of one's boundaries and safety, I thought it will be fitting to let it be our clear gloss. I usually pair SAFEWORD with a lipliner or wear it alone or on top of lipstick as a high shiny hydrating topper.

The next color I will talk about is " BRAT ". She is our bestseller. She is a mauve pink gloss and I wear her all the time literally. She is great alone or if you want to use a matching liner, you can. A BRAT in BDSM is :

BRAT: a brat is defined as “someone who wants to be put in their place by a dom in the form of discipline because they’ve acted bratty, acted out, or misbehaved".

I thought the shade was so fitting for this name. She's pink but has some spunk to her hehe.

The next shade is " KITTEN "

She's the cute baby pink of "BRAT". I feel someone who wears this is soft and cuddly and enjoys praise and being called this. I remember long ago doing a poll and " KITTEN" won for the nickname I would call or reference all of you as.

The next shade is " AHEGAO".

If you watch anime that tends to have risque jokes or you watch hentai * wink* then you know what ahegao means. Basically, it's the orgasm face the anime characters- mainly girls make. It's a glittery brown gloss that can make a great highlighter type look to your lips.

Lastly, " DADDY DOM"

It's a combination of the kink words " Daddy" and " Dom" if you're into ddlg or any of that type of stuff, then you're familiar with these terms. I chose it to be this deep shimmery red with some copper undertone that's perfect for a smokey eye or even by itself like I usually do. If you know that red symbolizes passion, power, love, desire, intensity, etc then you see why I decided to pair this name with this color. I may add additional reds to our collection. If you know me in real life, then you know red is one of my favorite colors. Besides my own, I probably own like a million red lip colors.

We debuted with these 5 glosses and in the future, we will expand our line even more. If you guys have any suggestions, please comment down below!
